May 28th marked the beginning of my return to the Via Francigena.

We set off from Chinley at 9:30 AM, retracing the familiar route back to the airport. After returning the rental car, we made our way to the train station. During the journey, I spoke with both of my sisters to share my plan to cycle across parts of France. Their encouragement and support gave me the confidence to move forward with the idea.

I was dropped off at Stockport Station and boarded a train bound ultimately for Dover, departing from platform one. The route took me from Stockport to Sheffield, then down to London St. Pancras, Ashford, and finally to Dover. I spent the night at the same bed and breakfast I had stayed in the previous week, once again retracing my steps through town and down to the coastline.

The next morning, I boarded the 9:45 AM P&O ferry to Calais and watched the UK fade behind me once more. After a smooth hour and a half crossing, we docked in Calais, where I set off to retrace my previous route back to Saint-Omer. This will be my continuation point on the Via Francigena.i am looking forward to the journey. I feel more prepared and resilient!
