First things first, let’s look into the travel documents for trip. I do this for each trip in case things have changed, and they had!! The planned route includes England, France, Switzerland, and Italy. As of March 2025, U.S. citizens planning to travel to these countries should be aware of the following entry requirements:

England (United Kingdom):
The UK has implemented the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for 2025 onwards. U.S. travelers must apply online for an ETA before departure. The authorization is valid for two years or until the passport expires and is required for entering the UK. The approval process takes up to three days. My application to 30 mins to complete and was approved within 1 hour! http://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
France, Switzerland, and Italy (Schengen Area):
The European Union is introducing the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) for visa-exempt travelers, including U.S. citizens. However, the implementation of ETIAS has been delayed and is now scheduled to begin in late 2026. Until then, U.S. travelers can continue to enter without an ETIAS authorization for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This was the status as of March 2025. Always check periodically for status changes!!! https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en
In addition to these authorizations, travelers must possess a valid passport with at least six months’ validity beyond their planned departure date. It’s advisable to check for any additional entry requirements or travel advisories issued by the U.S. Department of State or the destination countries before embarking on your journey! Good luck!!
